Please note that we are moving several services to Holy Ascension in Frackville to assist their choir and to share in the joy of Pascha with our Orthodox brothers from across Schuylkill County. These changes are temporary and a regular schedule of services at St. Mary’s will resume after Pascha. Another update will be made shortly regular the resumption of regular Sunday Obednitsas with a deacon.
Father Vjekoslav Jovicic, administrator of the Frackville Deanery, kindly offered Presanctified Liturgy to the faithful parishioners of Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church in Saint Clair on March 10, 2023. An inspiring homily for this Great Lenten season was given by Father Vjekoslav at the end of the Liturgy. Everyone was invited to a light Lenten meal after services.
Archbishop Mark made a Hierarchal visit to Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church in Saint Clair on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the second Sunday of Great Lent commemorating Saint Gregory Palamas. Almost the entire faithful of Saint Mary’s attended the service and listened to an inspiring homily by Archbishop Mark. Immediately after Liturgy, a Lenten meal was provided to the faithful.
On Saturday, January 14, 2023, the faithful of Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church in Saint Clair gathered together to commemorate the Feast Day of the Theophany. Divine Liturgy with Great Blessing of the Water was celebrated by Father Joseph Ramashvili. A parish luncheon and fellowship was held and enjoyed by all who attended.
Saint Mary’s celebrated Divine Liturgy with Father Vjekoslav Jovicic on All Souls Saturday on October 22, 2022. A Panikhida for all the departed souls of Saint Mary’s was held after Divine Liturgy. Father Vjekoslav gave the Blessing before a light lunch was served.
On October 1, St. Mary’s celebrated the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God with Divine Liturgy. This feast commemorates the miraculous intercession of the Virgin Mary during the pagan Rus attack on Constantinople in the 860s AD. The Blessed Mother has interceded for Christians in battle many times before and since then. As Orthodox Christians, we often have recourse to the Theotokos in our battles against foes of both flesh and spirit, remembering what Christ’s word on the cross: “Behold your mother!” (John 19:27).
On Sunday, July 17, 2022, Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church, Saint Clair warmly welcomed His Eminence, +Archbishop MARK, as he served Divine Liturgy. Following Liturgy, a delicious summer-themed luncheon was served to the faithful in the church hall and was enjoyed by all.
St. Mary’s now has a YouTube channel. We will be recording our services and posting them there, working up to livestreaming for those who are unable to attend in person. Please bear with us as we learn best recording and streaming practices.
